A California
native, I have lived in the Bay Area since the mid-1950’s. I first came
to Berkeley in 1960 to attend the University of California, studying philosophy
there. Since 1965 I have lived in Berkeley continuously. I have had three
careers. The longest by far has been in real estate. I began in 1984 and
in the years since then I have helped hundreds of buyers and sellers with
their real estate needs. In that time, I have also earned the respect of
the local real estate community. I bring to the buyers and sellers I work
with the benefits of an expertise gained over many years, the extensive
local knowledge of a long-time resident, and the technical knowledge gained
during my time of building. Not least, I bring my considerable energy. As
for my business style, it is direct, carefully detailed, and totally focused
on my clients’ interests.
Prior to working in real estate, I had a nine year career in woodworking, both construction/remodeling and shop/cabinet work. I worked all over the East Bay doing everything from designing and building decks, to kitchen remodel work, to building many of the display fixtures for the local bookstore, Black Oak Books, when it first opened. My first career was as a photojournalist. For a period of ten years, beginning in the mid-1960’s, I photographed all of the major anti-war and social protest movement activities in the Bay Area. My photographs were published widely in the “underground” press of the times. In 1975 I published a book, Rag Theater, which, with an accompanying silverprint, was purchased by the Whitney Museum and the Guggenheim Museum. Since the 1970’s my photographs have been published in many books, magazines and newspapers worldwide. They have also been exhibited in a number of museums and galleries, including the M.H. de Young Museum, the Ansel Adams Friends of Photography Gallery in San Francisco, the University Art Museum in Berkeley, and most recently, at the Berkeley Art Center as part of their 2001 exhibit The Whole World’s Watching. When I am not engaged with real estate, I can generally be found in
my kitchen, in my garden, or in my darkroom.
