One of the ways of holding title is quite recent. In the summer of 2001 a law went into effect in California that provided for a new way for married couples to hold title to their home. "Community Property with Right of Survivorship" combines the tax advantages of "Community Property" with the probate-avoidance features of "Joint Tenancy." This manner of holding title is likely to be the best for many.
